About This Role

Our machining department needs a skilled Precision Machinist who can hold tight tolerances on complex automotive components. You will set up and operate CNC lathes and mills, perform first-article inspections, and work from engineering drawings with tolerances as tight as plus or minus 0.0005 inches. You will be responsible for selecting cutting tools, calculating speeds and feeds, interpreting GD&T callouts on prints, and using precision measurement instruments including micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and CMM equipment. When engineering releases a new part, you will develop the setup procedures and document them for production operators to follow. We are looking for someone with at least three years of precision machining experience and strong measurement skills. NIMS Machining Level 1 certification is preferred. You should be able to read a micrometer to 0.0001 inches without hesitation and understand the difference between accuracy and precision.
